A Fighting Union for the Future
WHY I’M RUNNING
Educators across this country are facing unprecedented attacks on our students, our profession, and our democracy. Politicians and billionaires are dismantling our schools, defunding our classrooms, and dividing our communities. But I know from experience that educators hold enormous power — when we organize together.
I’m running for NEA Vice President because I believe our union must become the fighting, multiracial, multilingual movement this moment requires. I’ve seen what’s possible when we train, build, and stand with one another. I know what it takes to win — and I’m ready to lead our union as we fight back and fight forward.
What People Are Saying
“Rosalyn Carter said, ‘A leader takes people where they want to go. A great leader takes people where they don't necessarily want to go, but ought to be.’ Marisol Garcia is a great leader, one tested by circumstance (Arizona's Red for Ed movement which sparked a national movement) and driven by the desire to make the lives of our students and our members better. I have witnessed Marisol's unparalleled resolve, courage and advocacy and I highly recommend her for Vice-President of the National Education Association!”
— Paula Herbart, Past-President, Michigan Education Association
“Marisol is the type of smart, organized fighter we need to lead us in these times. Status quo no longer is good enough. We need leaders like Marisol who have been in the toughest battles and come out on top.”
— Kevin Vick, President of Colorado Education Association
“I believe Marisol Garcia is exactly the leader we need in extremely challenging times. All she does is organize, and all she does is win! ”
— Paul Lemle, Maryland State Education Association
